To be your best self.

I had the opportunity to write an article for a friend. Which blessed me with the unique thoughts that I am about to share. But before doing so, I wanted to share something that one of my patients said today. He expressed to me that we are our own motivators. We choose what we want to be motivated in. And here is the article that I wrote.. I think that while in Heaven, we volunteered for many things, such as life, trails, joys and failures. I know that God has given us the tools and resources to succeed, to overcome, to  grow and progress in this life. But with these tools, one thing is expected of us,  not only to endure, but to endure well. “ Patient endurance permits us to cling to our faith in the Lord and our faith in His timing when we are being tossed about by the surf of circumstance. Even when a seeming undertow grasps us, somehow, in the tumbling, we are being carried forward, though battered and bruised. ” Neal A. Maxwell  Becoming your best self ...

Jesus Christ-- the Saviors Final Week.

Life is really hard. There are ups. There are downs. There are parts that won't make you feel a thing-- and there are some parts that make you feel the highest of highs, but also, the lowest of lows. I guess that's the hard part about life. Life isn't consistent, it isn't always a straight line. Life is truly a windy ride. As I sit here and think about the thing that gets me through feeling like this. Feeling sad for no apparent reason, feeling down and feeling a strong desire to cry.. I think about the thing that IS constant in my life. I think about the one thing that has made my life a weaving but very solid thick line. That one thing is my Savior Jesus Christ. "In Gethsemane Jesus became us, each one of us, and we became him. Our sins were transferred to Jesus. His perfection was transferred to us." I am reading a book called 'The Saviors Final Week' --- "he chose to become man so that we could become like God." This phrase alway...

The other day, while reading my scriptures and praying; I felt impressed to share a few points that are very dear to my heart. One, being my conversion story, the other being the struggles that I have CHOSEN to face through my conversion and where I am now. May 18, 2013. Five days before my high school graduation. Five days before I would walk across the stage with the friends whom I loved, with others whom had come and gone from my life, and the few friends who knew about the next decision I had made, and been working towards for months.  For months I kept hush about a choice I had made, what I had been doing, why I was changing, who I was becoming and I felt like a big liar. Looking back, I remember a boy whom I was good friends with, mention something about his mission that he was planning on serving, he then proceeded by asking if I was a Mormon, I remember my heart sink with fear, as I said “not exactly.” As I think about it now, I am unsure of why I was so embarrassed ...

moments of loneliness are moments of a greater love than we know of.

I’ve come to learn and know, that in the moments we feel most alone, the moments that feel the darkest; are the moments that we learn how truly loved, how most definitely not alone we really are. There have been trials in my life that I tend to stubbornly believe I am alone in it. Trials that test my patience, my faith and my ability to surrender unto my Savior. Trials that leave me heartbroken and unable to stand. But the most important thing that I have gained through these times, and the loved ones that continually surround me. Open arms, ears and hearts. Ready to love me to the fullest of their abilities. I’ve always known that God gives us people that he knows we need. I can testify of many times I have been given an angel, to help me through my journey; which leads me to the story of Brandon. The words that Brandon speaks to me, makes my heart and soul bleed. Not bleed in a dying kind of way. But a dying because of those glorious words that have filled my heart and mind with s...

Visions of Glory-- and my new knowledge.

about a year ago, i read a book called "Visions of Glory", trying to gain knowledge on a specific topic; i did gain knowledge in that area; but now as i began reading it once more; i am gaining knowledge on more than just the topic i began reading the book for. If you have not read this book- (it is written by a church author; but is not doctrine) i highly recommend that you start this book. I quoted some of my favorite messages that I gained out of it today; with some of my own thoughts and new lessons i've learned recently; i encourage all to read these; to ponder them and ask yourself what it means to you. "the lesser suffering we go through is to prepare an individual for their specific mission.." ".. only with three elements can we claim the blessings and the honor of serving in any great cause. When we do this, we are no longer serving the church, our families or even ourselves-- we are serving Jesus Christ directly and doing the Father's wo...

I would take tears all over again.

“If you love someone, you tell them. Even if you’re scared that it’s not the right thing. Even if you are scared it will cause problems. Even if you are scared that it’ll burn your life to the ground, you say it. You say it loud and you go from there.” Grey’s Anatomy I've been thinking a lot the last couple days. About what it means to give your heart away, what results from that. Whether it is good, whether it is bad, whatever the result becomes.  I began to think about how "STINGY" I have been with my heart. Which in the past, I used to appreciate about myself. Not just giving my heart out to anybody; but as I've been thinking about this recently, I have realized that being stingy with my heart isn't the best thing that I could have done. I've realized that it is better to have loved, than never at all. It is better to be loved than not.  I tend to push away the people who love me most, the people who tend to fight their hardest for me, I push their hearts a...

His Burden is Light -- Sterling C. Hilton

" Stay the Course The purpose of our tribulation is not to experience crushing, hopeless despair. The fruit of our suffering can be a bright hope. Remaining steadfast in Christ through our afflictions and adversity increases our capacity to see our promised end more clearly. Like a powerful spotlight that shines more brightly in complete darkness, our suffering reveals Christ to us. We see His promise of salvation, resurrection, and eternal life more clearly in our mind’s eye, and we look forward with a bright hope to that perfect day, seeing it afar off but knowing that it lies ahead (see Hebrews 11:13). Do I believe I am finished? No—just ask anyone who knows me. I am not a finished product; I have “miles to go before I sleep” (Robert Frost, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” [1923]). Will my path again become steep and rocky and painful? Certainly, but I do not fear what lies ahead. I know in whom I have trusted. He has shown me how to carry on when darkness sur...
