I would take tears all over again.

“If you love someone, you tell them. Even if you’re scared that it’s not the right thing. Even if you are scared it will cause problems. Even if you are scared that it’ll burn your life to the ground, you say it. You say it loud and you go from there.” Grey’s Anatomy I've been thinking a lot the last couple days. About what it means to give your heart away, what results from that. Whether it is good, whether it is bad, whatever the result becomes.  I began to think about how "STINGY" I have been with my heart. Which in the past, I used to appreciate about myself. Not just giving my heart out to anybody; but as I've been thinking about this recently, I have realized that being stingy with my heart isn't the best thing that I could have done. I've realized that it is better to have loved, than never at all. It is better to be loved than not.  I tend to push away the people who love me most, the people who tend to fight their hardest for me, I push their hearts a...

His Burden is Light -- Sterling C. Hilton

" Stay the Course The purpose of our tribulation is not to experience crushing, hopeless despair. The fruit of our suffering can be a bright hope. Remaining steadfast in Christ through our afflictions and adversity increases our capacity to see our promised end more clearly. Like a powerful spotlight that shines more brightly in complete darkness, our suffering reveals Christ to us. We see His promise of salvation, resurrection, and eternal life more clearly in our mind’s eye, and we look forward with a bright hope to that perfect day, seeing it afar off but knowing that it lies ahead (see Hebrews 11:13). Do I believe I am finished? No—just ask anyone who knows me. I am not a finished product; I have “miles to go before I sleep” (Robert Frost, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” [1923]). Will my path again become steep and rocky and painful? Certainly, but I do not fear what lies ahead. I know in whom I have trusted. He has shown me how to carry on when darkness sur...

doubt-- but do not fear.

https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2011-10-065-jesus-teaches-that-we-must-become-as-little-children?lang=eng i've had doubts lately, and in the beginning, i was even ashamed to announce that. But i realized just how human i really am, and that being human, comes with doubting ourselves. as many of you know, i was baptized two years and five months ago. May 18, 2013. and i've embraced it, cherished it, and loved it beyond anything that i've ever loved in this life. it was something that i always talked about, always prayed for, and always embraced, i wouldn't ever stop thinking about church, the book of mormon, my elder boys, or even the missionary discussions. it got to the point that it all consumed who i was, and who i had become. and i loved that. somedays though, more lately than normal, satan kicks me straight in the face. making me doubt, and question everything that i have learned, been taught and come to have a strong testimony of for myself. some...

The Living Christ

Image
I wanted to share my testimony; but in a different way than just expressing what i know to be true. I wanted to talk about Jesus Christ, and our Father in Heaven. I'll start by saying-- Jesus Christ died for me, but he is still living. He lives, and loves, he saves and comforts. "where justice and mercy meet." -- Jeffery R. Holland this is a good read and i encourage you to read this. I think that sometimes, our testimonies lean towards Jesus Christ. I think that sometimes we tend to think that we know and have a relationship with Christ, more than Heavenly Father. But we must always remember that what Christ has done, our father has done also. That Jesus Christ is a direct reflection of our Father in Heaven. Moses 7: 35 "Behold, I am God; Man of Holiness is my name; Man of Cousel is my name; and Endless and Eternal is my name, also." This is one of my favorite scriptures; because in one verse, it expresses all that my Heavenly Father repre...

to apply the atonement, even to the smallest of situations!

I had a very weird sabbath day yesterday; away from my normal ward, out of town (like I have been for like 5 weeks straight now..) and ect. But one thing remained the same. The spirit. I took recognition that as strongly as I felt the spirit; it wasn't in any way different than what it feels like in my own ward. This brought me comfort; knowing that wherever I may be, whatever I may be doing, I can recognize, hear and feel the Holy Ghost.  Though I've been struggling with inadequacy the last couple of weeks or so, a friend posted in an Instagram "sometimes we get so caught up in satan's unrelenting pressure that we quickly forget how many times we have been "delivered out of the hands of our enemies." It's so easy to succumb to the pressure of sin when we lose hope of succor. BUT THE ATONMENT APPLIES TO ALL CIRCUMSTANCES. and it is through and by the atonement of Jesus Christ that we can gain ETERNALNESS deliverance from the adversary. Personally I find n...

9-11 '15

Today I was asked where I was and what I was doing in 9-11. I was shocked at how emotional I became.  If you know well enough, you would know that America is one of my favorite and most appreciated blessings in my life. You would know that patriotic things ALWAYS bring tears to my eyes. Each time I hear the star spangled Banner, every time I have the chance to say the pledge of allegiance, each time I see anybody in uniform serving; tears come, full forced. So on a day like this, it isn’t strange that my heart is heavy. As I had the chance to pray for those who might be hurting today, last night, my entire heart swelled with such love. To truly feel how blessed I am to be a part of this country. To feel such unity in and on days such as today. I feel so grateful to be in a country that comes together in times like these. I feel so grateful to feel such love and compassion in the country today. “tonight I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds h...

Jesus Christ my Savior

i used to be really good about sharing my testimony; anytime, anywhere, how ever i wanted to show it off, i used to be really proud of my growing testimony, where i've come from, and where i was reaching to.  i've noticed that i've grown out of that somewhat. but tonight, i feel extra grateful for my savior. the last couple of days, i've felt down and sad, and although today has not been any different; after my institute class; my heart has been extremely heavy in gratitude, love and peace. 2 Nephi 4:26 "in so much mercy, why should my heart weep and my soul linger in the valley of sorrow, and my flesh waste away, and my strength slacken, because of mine afflictions?" this really taught me that, i am wasting so much by sitting here being sad, for no reason. and even if there were a reason, i should and need to be using the atonement of Jesus Christ. There is no reason that my heart shall weep in sorrow, and that my strength should be weakened. i think, ...
